Questions
Plain answers about Thanex
Getting started
What is Thanex?
Thanex is The Work Camera, a construction photo app that saves who, when and where with every site photo you take and files it by project and tags, ready to report.
Who is Thanex best for?
Thanex is best for people and teams who take site photos for work and want every photo filed under the same tags, with its details saved and ready to report. That includes tradespeople, supervisors, engineers, project managers and the office, plus contractors and subcontractors whose teams take photos on site.
How is Thanex different from a timestamp camera app?
A timestamp app adds text to a photo. Thanex also files the photo into the right project under your tags, keeps it out of your camera roll and lets you report on it.
Why not just use WhatsApp or my camera roll?
Photos there get mixed up, unnamed and hard to find. Keep WhatsApp for chatting and take work photos in Thanex: every photo is stamped and filed the moment you take it.
Does Thanex work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. Download it from the App Store or Google Play.
Does Thanex work offline?
Yes. Thanex works fully offline, so no signal on site doesn't stop you. Pick the project and tags, add a note and take photos as normal. When you're back online, they sync to Thanex cloud.
Do I need training?
No. If you can take a photo on your phone, you can use Thanex.
Organising your own photos
My company doesn't have a photo system. Can I use Thanex on my own?
Yes. Thanex is for anyone who takes site photos for work. Start your own projects, set your own tags and keep your own record.
How does Thanex keep my photos organised?
You pick the record type and tags, then take the photo. Thanex files it in the right project straight away. Nothing to sort later.
Will my work photos fill up my camera roll?
No. Photos you take in Thanex stay in Thanex.
What is a record type?
The kind of photo you're taking, such as progress or a delivery. You choose it before you take the photo.
What are tags?
Labels such as block, plot, level or work. They're set for each project, so photos are filed the same way every time.
Can I add a note to a photo?
Yes. Add a note when you take it.
How do I find an old photo?
Filter by project, date, record type or tags. On Thanex Web you can also search your tags and notes.
Can I send photos to a client?
Yes. Pick the photos, make a PDF report and send it.
Can I choose what's stamped on my photos?
Yes. See Pricing for the plans that include it.
Teams and tags
Is Thanex for subcontractors?
Yes. Thanex suits subcontractors whose teams take photos on site. Every photo your team takes lands in your workspace, filed under your tags.
How do I add my team?
Invite people by name, email, link or QR code.
Is there a limit on team members?
No. Invite your whole team.
How do I make sure everyone files photos the same way?
Your admin sets the project's tags once. Everyone picks from the same list, so nobody names photos or folders their own way.
Who can change the tags?
Only admins.
What happens to photos when someone leaves?
They stay in your company workspace.
Can someone delete photos by mistake?
Members can delete only their own photos. Deleted photos go to a bin, and only admins can delete them for good.
Can I get photos from someone who doesn't use Thanex?
Yes, with Tasks. Share the task link and they upload photos straight to it, with no account needed.
Can I see what my team is taking?
Yes. There's an activity feed, and roles decide who can do what.
Reports
How do I make a report?
Filter your photos by date and tags, select the ones you need, then choose One per page or Thumbnails. Give it a name and make the PDF.
What's the difference between One per page and Thumbnails?
One per page shows each photo large, with its tags and the action needed right above it. Use it for snags, issues and progress. Thumbnails shows four photos to a row, grouped by record type, tags and date. Use it for handover and a record of the job. Photos show their stamp, unless it was turned off.
Can I add an action to each photo?
Yes, on One per page. The action sits right above the photo. Type it in, or tick to use the photo's note.
Can I show who took each photo, when and where?
Yes. On One per page, tick Photo details and they sit next to the photo. Leave it off for just the photo and the action.
Can people open the photos in my report?
Yes. Every photo in the report has its Photo ID. Tap it to open the full photo and its details. Anyone with the report can open it, no app needed.
Can I make one report for a whole level, from start to handover?
Yes. Filter the level, select every photo and choose Thumbnails. Formwork, slab, columns, stairs and handover photos each go in their own group, in date order.
Can I make a report for one plot, block or level?
Yes. Filter by that tag and make the report.
Can I pick photos from different filters?
Yes. Photos you select stay selected when you change the filters.
Who can I send a report to?
